@Home: Protect Your Home From Fire!

It’s important to always be prepared! You never know when a disaster could strike, so don’t let it blind side you! Here are some helpful #FireSafetyTips in case you have a fire:

Install smoke alarms throughout your home to detect a fire before it becomes more dangerous. These smoke alert systems can afford you and your family more time to evacuate your home in the event of a blaze.

Get your smoke alarms tested/serviced regularly to ensure that they are working properly. If they aren’t get them fixed  as soon as possible.

Ensure that your house has at least one fire extinguisher and that each family member old enough to use it, understands how to operate it.

Create a family disaster plan, so that in the event of any kind of disaster from earthquakes to fires, everyone knows the drill to escape to safety. You should have a clear evacuation plan in your home. Also, emergency or disaster kits with a few essentials should be kept in an easily accessible place in case their needs to be a quick evacuation.

Most importantly, if your home is on fire you must get out as soon as possible, try to cover your nose and mouth in the event of smoke, and dial 110 for an immediate fire brigade response team.

Having reliable home insurance is another way to combat the effects of disasters, like fire.
